Job Description

Tasked with operating and using equipment designed to manufacture artificial snow in a safe and responsible manner while adhering to policies and procedures set out by provincial and federal bodies and Alpine Ski Club management.

What will you be doing?

·         performing and maintaining all safety checks and operational start-up and shut-down procedures

·         maintaining and caring for tools, performing equipment checks and monitoring systems

·         caring for and demonstrating ability for operating snowmobiles

·         setting up snow guns for optimal snow coverage

·         moving snow guns and performing hill checks

·         checking snow quality to ensure consistency

·         adjusting water and air hydrants to achieve desired snow quality

·         removing all equipment from the hill when finished and returning to designated areas

·         maintaining communication with coworkers and supervisor

·         reporting any unusual problems or hazardous conditions

·         dealing with pressurized systems

Note:  All Alpine Ski Club employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holidays and weekends.

Physical/mental demands:  This position works primarily outside and requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on slippery and/or uneven snow or icy surfaces.  Team members must always remain alert and attentive.  Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and use hands to grasp, twist, push and climb.

Work Environment:  This position involves working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, on varied snow surfaces, and requires being on your feet for most of the scheduled shift.  Some time will be spent inside, but inside time still requires alertness and attention.  Varying weather conditions mean that some days are extremely busy while other days are slower.
