Environmental Stewardship Summer Student

Job Description

Assist in sorting & bringing items in from our bins for our Treasure Shop

Be part of our “Green Team” and help create a composting system and help determine carbon footprint

Work in our Community Garden growing food for our Preschool and Food Pantry

Supply the Little Free Libraries in the community with books and food, regularly

Recycle alcohol bottles and cans onsite & from donation depots around our community

Seek further opportunities to help us create a bigger impact

Qualifications:

• No experience required
• Current or recent Criminal Reference Check (if hired, BVO will provide letter to OPP)
• WHIMIS, AODA and Health and Safety Training – BVO will provide links

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Enthusiastic, strong interpersonal skills
• Able to work flexible hours and outside in all kinds of weather
• Good organization skills, able to follow guidelines and directions
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Conditions of Employment:

• Seasonal contract starting May 19, 2025
• Must be 15 to 30 Years of Age as per funding criteria
• Current Valid Drivers Licence an asset
• 35 hours per week – schedule to be negotiated; $17.51 per hour
• Able to lift 30 lbs
