Job Title: Child and Youth Worker
Work Hours: Various shifts, includes working days and/or evenings, weekend work required on a rotating basis
Wage: $19 to $21 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: December 4, 2023
Location: Wasaga Beach, ON
 

Job Description

 We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Child and Youth Workers to join our team of Treatment Support Workers.  As a TSW you will work with your assigned clients and support our network of Foster Parents and Resource Workers. This position requires a resilient direct support professional who is confident in navigating conflict, overcoming obstacles, and who is creative in providing support to individuals in crisis. We are currently looking for day, evening and weekend coverage on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities: 

·        Being a positive role model for young people, leading by example with good attitude, social skills, and desire to succeed

·        Advocate on client’s behalf and facilitate self-advocacy to community supports

·        Foster independence in daily living skills including supervising, teaching and assisting in meal prep, housekeeping, laundry and community outings

·        Provide support in personal development as decided through individual program planning

·        Know and respond to the safety and health care of the people we support

·        Document and maintain records as required (data collection, medication administration)

·        Administer medication and attend medical appointment as required

·        Ensure learning opportunities are provided using agency and community resources

·        Maintain effective communication

 
 

Qualifications:

 • Completed Child and Youth Worker Diploma or other equivalent degree/diploma and/or work experience related to human services

• Preferred minimum 6 months to 1-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities, preferably working with individuals who have a dual diagnosis of mental health challenges and developmental disabilities

• Proficient computer skills needed in Microsoft Office and email

• Driver’s license, driver’s abstract and personal vehicle

• Valid and current vulnerable sector screening
