Job Title: Constituency Assistant (Part-Time)
Work Hours: 30-33 hours per week
Wage: $22.00 per hour

Job Description

Seeking a highly motivated, organized individual to provide constituency support, including casework, office management,

and community outreach. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be highly

organized and have experience overseeing office management. Office is located in Stayner.

Description – The Constituency Assistant provides administrative and other assistance to the elected Member in carrying out

duties to constituents, including communication, organization, scheduling, casework, advocacy and other services as

appropriate.

The Constituency Assistant often works alone in the constituency office, and exercises full responsibility for the operation of

the office in a manner that provides for efficient workflow and a safe and secure workplace.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Respond to and document constituent inquiries/complaints/concerns (telephone, in person, email).

·         Resolve inquiries/complaints/concerns independently, with senior staff, or by forwarding to the appropriate Ministry or level of government (federal or municipal).

·         Maintain respective data bases and records.

·         Brief the MPP/EA on ongoing issues in the riding.

·         Prepare congratulatory scrolls for special occasions, including business openings, birthdays, etc.

·         Attend events and meetings on behalf of, or with, the Member as required.

·         Take pictures and provide support at events as required

·         Attend and participate in scheduled Team meetings

·         Light cleaning and light snow clearing

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

General office administration knowledge and experience is required.

·         Strong and versatile written and verbal communication skills.

·         Patience and the ability to show empathy.

·         Ability to use judgment and discretion.

·         Able to multi-task and manage projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

·         Detail oriented and able to work independently.

·         Social media proficiency across multiple platforms (not a requirement).

·         Confidentially handle requests from multiple sources.

·         Ability to prioritize and determine the appropriate course of action.

·         Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal government responsibilities (not a requirement).

·         Strong computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office.

Education/Experience – A minimum of 5 years experience in customer service, related education, drivers’ licence and car, highly organized, ability to navigate internal computer systems, writing skills, local knowledge an asset, a willing collaborator.
