Job Title: Poll Technician Officer (Temporary Contract)
Work Hours: Attend a 3-day regional training between February 24-March 28, 2025, excluding the week of March break.

May work some hours to set up tech equipment at the local election office or the training and logistics office.

During election period you will work full-time hours (40-50 hours per week over an 8 week period).

Wage: $25/hour
Anticipated Start Date: February 2024
Location: Simcoe County/Grey County
 

Job Description

Are you tech-savvy and ready to make a difference in the upcoming election? Join us as a Poll Technician Officer (PT) and be the go-to person for setting up and configuring all the equipment used at voting locations. You’ll handle everything from tabulators and ePoll books to cellular modems and printers.

• Working with Elections Ontario HQ, a support network, and vendors to receive and set up technology for

voting at the polls.

• Ensuring strict benchmarks are met for the setup and quality control of voting technology equipment.

• Troubleshooting and providing technical support for any issues with the poll voting technology.

• Confirming the timely and accurate production of management reports and lists.

• Assisting local election office staff, as well as training and logistics staff, with technical problems and software

information, and contacting the Technical Support Call Centre (TSCC) for assistance when needed.

• Working closely with the Logistic Election Officer to organize and pack ePoll Book cases.

• May be traveling to voting locations within the electoral district to resolve technical issues.

• Performing other duties as assigned by the Returning Officer or designate.

 

Qualifications:

• Previous work experience as a Field Technician or in Technical Support Officer is a plus.

• Demonstrated experience with computer hardware, imaging, Windows OS, FTP, cellular and Wi-Fi

networking, and Office 365.

• Able to work for long stretches of time, especially during election days.

• Must have a vehicle to travel to voting locations with spare equipment (e.g., ePoll Book cases) for trou

bleshooting and break/fix.

• Must be able to lift heavy items (e.g., full ePoll Book cases) weighing up to 45 lbs.

• Strong verbal and written communication, planning, scheduling, technical troubleshooting, and key

boarding skills.

• Ability to stay composed under pressure.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during an electoral event.

• Local election office experience is a plus.

• Must be 18 years of age or older and eligible to work in Canada.
