Ice River is currently looking for forty (40) Process Control & Machine Operator(s), Beverage Processing (NOC 94140) to join our team. You will be working at our Shelburne facility, located at 485387 County Road 11, Shelburne ON L9V 3N5.

These are permanent, full-time positions, based on 88 hours of work per 2-week cycle, with occasional overtime. At this time, we are only looking for individuals who can work a 12-hour rotating continental shift, including nights and weekends.

Position Summary

The Process Control & Machine Operator plays a critical role in our manufacturing process, responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of bottling processing equipment. This role involves operating and maintaining specialized multi-function process control bottling machinery, monitoring production processes, and adhering to quality standards to ensure the consistent bottling of beverages. This position requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, ability to interpret technical instructions to operate sophisticated equipment and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include the following:

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of bottling processing equipment via digital control panels, including configuring settings, real-time data tracking, technical troubleshooting, optimizing processes, ensuring safety compliance, logging data, and applying system updates for optimal performance. Operation of manual elements also required.

Maintain accurate production records and reports for quality control and production tracking, conduct regular inspections, make necessary adjustments, and ensure quality requirements are met according to company standards; promptly report any deficiencies.

Analyze and interpret production line flow through continuous monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), such as cycle times, bottleneck areas, and material flow rates, utilizing advanced data analytics tools to optimize equipment synchronization, reduce downtime, and ensure seamless coordination between processes to maximize manufacturing throughput and efficiency.

Identify and assess potential safety hazards by conducting real-time risk analysis using sensor data and machine feedback, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, emergency stop mechanisms, and machine guarding systems. Utilize ergonomic assessments and load distribution analysis for safe lifting practices, while adhering to OSHA and plant-specific safety regulations for machine operations, thereby mitigating risks of equipment malfunctions, operator injuries, and unsafe working conditions.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and address challenges effectively.

Perform routine cleaning and sanitation in compliance with industry standards, utilizing approved chemicals. Follow schedules to prevent cross-contamination, ensure equipment longevity, and maintain food safety, documenting all activities for traceability and audits

Utilize advanced material handling techniques for the safe transport and storage of materials and products, employing equipment like forklifts while following ergonomic standards. Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards, use protective gear to reduce injury risks, and implement cushioning and securing methods to prevent damage during transit. Regularly inspect handling equipment for functionality and maintenance, documenting findings to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Provide flexible support on the production line by engaging in various tasks to maintain efficiency and meet targets. Collaborate with team members on equipment setup, monitor output, troubleshoot minor issues, and assist with loading and unloading materials while ensuring quality standards. Adapt to roles like packaging, quality inspection, or machine operation as needed, following safety protocols. Communicate regularly with supervisors to report concerns and suggest improvements, enhancing overall productivity and safety.

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical guidelines for production processes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who meets the following minimum requirements:

Completion of high school required.

Some post-secondary education required as the position requires the ability to read and understand technical instructions and sophisticated Husky equipment user manuals.

Two years plastics injection or bottling line experience required.

Previous heavy equipment experience preferred.

Able to work independently and within a small team in a fast-paced environment.

Maintain high levels of attendance.

Upbeat and demonstrate positive attitude.

Strong attention to detail.

Compensation

We offer a generous compensation package, which includes:

Starting wage of $20.00 – $21.09 per hour, less applicable statutory deductions and withholdings. Following completion of your 3-month probation period, your hourly rate will increase by $0.25.

Employees are eligible to earn a Line Efficiency (LEF) Bonus upon achieving a series of criteria as outlined in the LEF Bonus Program. Details of this program are subject to change.

Operators that work an 8-hour shift can earn between $10 – $20 when 85% – 95% LEF target is achieved

Operators that work a 10-hour shift can earn between $15 – $25 when 85% – 95% LEF target is achieved

Operators that work a 12-hour shift can earn between $20 – $30 when 85% – 95% LEF target is achieved

Overtime will be paid at 1.5 time your regular hourly rate, after 88 hours worked in a 2-week work cycle.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

Shift-work, including at night and on weekends required.

Frequent lifting and carrying of materials, products, and goods up to 50 pounds or more.

Standing and walking for extended periods on hard surfaces.

Regular bending, stooping, and reaching to handle equipment and materials.

Using manual dexterity for operating machinery controls, tools, and computer systems.

Good visual and auditory acuity to monitor equipment and detect malfunctions.

Operating forklifts and machinery requires coordination, balance, and adherence to safety protocols.

PPE use.
