|Resident Services Attendants – Dining|
|The hours of work range from 7 am – 8:30 pm.|
|Seeking 3-5 servers.
Accountable to the Hospitality Manager (HM) or designate
Are determined by the residence and may include, but are not limited to the following:
§ Complies with all guidelines and regulations and established Dining Services department policies and procedures.
§ Assists in maintaining the Dining Services department in a safe and sanitary manner.
§ Provides assistance to the Chef / Cook in the preparation of some meals or other food prep and otherwise as required.
§ Efficiently serves meals, desserts, tea and coffee to residents during meal service time, and establishes positive relations with residents, families and other staff members.
§ Re-stocks café or other area with food and beverages as directed.
§ Responsible for ongoing cleanliness and proper appearance of the dining room.
§ Assists in the preparation and service of beverages, breakfast items, vegetables, nourishment items, salads, desserts and catering as assigned.
§ Is aware of and assists in following residents’ diets, using proper portion sizes.
§ Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies.
§ Assists in monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises manager of problems.
§ Reports food supply and equipment needs to Food Services Manager or designate.
§ Follows proper food handling techniques and dates, labels and stores food properly.
§ Completes pre-start up equipment checks as necessary.
§ Keeps work area clean and uncluttered, and completes and signs off on scheduled cleaning duties.
§ Maintains cleanliness of floors in the kitchen, including all food preparation and storage areas.
§ Uses equipment and supplies properly.
§ Sets and cleans dining tables and trays.
§ Assists in dish and pan washing, storage and cleaning duties.
§ Delivers Dining Services carts to designated areas.
§ Assists with maintaining the security of the department.
§ Participates actively in department’s Quality Improvement program as requested.
§ Participates actively in special occasion and theme meal days.
§ May be required to assist in preparation and/or delivery of tray service.
§ Alerts Hospitality Manager to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action as requested.
§ Is knowledgeable of and practice facility’s fire safety and emergency programs.
§ Attends departmental and residence staff meetings, in-services and other necessary training sessions.
§ Assists in the orientation and training of new Dining Services employees.
§ Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
§ Promotes a positive team spirit within the department.
§ Maintains a good attendance record according to Company policy.
§ Performs other duties as are necessary and appropriate.
§ Must believe in and practice the company Mission.
§ Sits, stands, stoops, bends lifts and walks intermittently during the workday.
§ Regular exposure to temperature extremes, noise, biochemical agents and wet floors.
§ Exposure to hazards from use of kitchen utensils and equipment.
§ Close concentration required while serving food.
§ Early morning, evening, and weekend work required.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
§ Is aware of employees and supervisors responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
§ Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers and residents.
§ Is alert to and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations to immediate supervisor. Does not operate or use faulty equipment.
§ Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, SDS or facility policy.
§ Promptly reports personal injury to supervisor and seeks first aid as needed.
§ Participates in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills and knows the facility Fire and Disaster Plan.
§ Is fully WHMIS 2015 trained and tested prior to working with any chemicals, knows where the SDS sheets are kept and what Personal Protective Equipment is required with any chemicals and where to find PPE.
§ Lifting alone, maximum 50 lbs. (5-25 lbs. Usual) as a major job function.
§ Lifting with assistance, maximum 80 – 100 lbs. as a major job function
§ Pushing, pulling using wheeled equipment such as carts, trolleys with contents that weigh a maximum 100 lbs. (20 – 50 lbs. Usual) as a major job function.
§ Stretching/reaching on a regular frequency throughout the shift, as a major job function.
§ Standing with intermittent walking (with possibility of some upstairs walking) for majority of shift, up to 8 hours maximum as a major job function.
§ Bending/stooping on a regular frequency throughout the shift as a minor job function.
§ Crouching/Kneeling for short periods of time as a minor job function.
§ Carries and transports objects of various sizes, to a maximum of 25 lbs. (5 – 15 lbs. usual) as a major job function.
Preference will be given to individuals who have successfully completed or are enrolled in a hospitality or health care food services worker training program.
§ Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions and be willing to fulfill all training required by the Employer on an annual basis.
§ Police Check with vulnerable screening
§ TB screening via 2 Step Mantoux test and provide documentation
§ Must have smart serve and training in food safety
§ Must be able to work accurately, quickly and safely.
§ Must be organized and an effective learner.
§ Must be an effective team player who works well with others.
§ Must be able to work and communicate effectively with residents.
§ Must be able to maintain an acceptable standard of health and personal hygiene.
§ Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift.
