Work Hours: | Normal hours of work are thirty-five (35) hours per week, usually Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one (1) hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as there will be requirement to attend to functions outside of normal work hours, respond to urgent matters, or work overtime as needed. | ||
Wage: | $83,902.00 to $101,956.40 ($46.10 to $56.02 per hour) | ||

The Manager, Culture & Events is responsible for the management and support of the division. The position provides leadership to division staff; oversees the development and implementation of divisional work plans including the delivery of multiple special events and cultural programs; supervises the permitting of third party special events and management of assigned sites (e.g., Simcoe Street Theatre); prepares and monitors operational and capital budgets; recommends and develops culture and event related policies and procedures; and supports the implementation of the Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan. The main duties and responsibilities of the position are in the areas of special event hosting and administration, division administration functions, cultural programming and activation, and other division functions. |

Qualifications: |
The preferred candidate possesses the following:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 2. Five (5) years of relevant experience in municipal management. Knowledge of local history, attractions and businesses is an asset. 3. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful programs and public events with an emphasis on health and safety and compliance with applicable policies, legislation, and regulations. Demonstrated success in leading cohesive and motivated teams to meet corporate goals, objectives and initiatives. 4. Excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members. 5. Ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and good judgment particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information. Possess a high level of initiative and personal integrity. 6. Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications and office equipment. 7. Physically capable of performing the duties of the position and wearing the applicable personal protective equipment. 8. Valid Class “G” driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Ability and willingness to travel within the community as required. 9. Possess a current Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the employer, and a valid standard first aid & CPR/AED Level C certification (or willing to obtain).
