Work Hours: students will work all days of the week depending on the position
Wage: Salary Range: $15.99/hour to $18.71/hour (2022 Rate).

Job Description

The Town of The Blue Mountains is a growing and progressive, four-season community with stunning natural features, including the Niagara Escarpment, Beaver Valley and the Georgian Bay shoreline, and the various recreational activities and experiences they afford. We are seeking to fill the full-time, summer student position of Roads & Drainage Student within our Operations Department.

  • Position Overview:
    To effectively and efficiently assist with operational and maintenance duties for the Roads and Drainage Division of Operations.
  • To perform work activities in an efficient manner, consistent with the policies and procedures of the Roads and Drainage Division which includes but are not limited to traffic control, grass cutting, sign repairs, road repairs, road patrols, sidewalk inspections and repairs, tree removal.
  • To display and promote positive “Team Player” attitudes and actions. This includes positive communications with supervisors and other Town staffs regarding ideas and initiatives to enhance the workplace, improve policies, procedures and services.
  • Ability to foster good working and interpersonal communications, as well as effective and courteous communication with members of the public

Qualifications: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in high school or post-secondary institution. Minimum 1 year work experience in a team environment
  • Must be physically fit to complete ongoing duties.
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and diplomacy.
  • Resourcefulness and flexibility.
  • Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is critical.
